About

Situated on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, 'Mo Eilean' is a spacious, luxury self-catering accommodation in the heart of Stornoway, the main town of the Western Isles. It offers a family-friendly, cosy, and well-equipped home away from home for up to 6 people and 1 infant.

What our guests greatly value about ‘Mo Eilean’ is to have such a special home in this central, yet quiet location. With only a few minutes’ walk into the centre of Stornoway, our tranquil harbour, the expansive Lews Castle Grounds, shops, cafes, restaurants, cinema, and sports centre are on your doorstep. Both airport and ferry terminal are also within easy access.

At the same time, ‘Mo Eilean’ is the perfect base from which to explore the beauty and rich culture of the island of Lewis and Harris, its stunning beaches and breath-taking landscape, endearing wildlife, and exciting outdoor activities. You can reach some of the most popular visitor destinations such as the Callanish Stone Circle, the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village and beautiful Tolsta Beach within a 20-30 minutes’ drive. To lay eyes on the world-famous white sands of Luskentyre Beach in Harris, the journey takes 70 minutes.

At the end of a day of delightful island adventure, you can return to the comfort and luxuries of your town home. If you feel like going out for food, it is in Stornoway where you will find the choice of restaurants to enjoy the variety of delicious fresh, local produce.

The house has shown to suit the needs of a great variety of visitors, whether you are holidaying on your own, want to escape to the island while doing home office work, come to enjoy island life as a couple or seek to please the varied demands of a family with children of all ages.

This beautifully restored traditional Victorian stone house combines the charm of the old, showcasing exposed walls and beams, original flooring and opened fireplaces, with modern, high-quality equipment and interiors, Jacuzzi bath, Hebridean art and beautiful Harris Tweed upholstery.

Your private patio garden facilitates outdoor socialising and dining with a Weber available to have barbeques when the weather is kind. However, with two wood burners, two cosy living spaces for relaxing and a great variety of entertainment such as books, board games, jigsaws, as well as Amazon & Netflix TV, DVDs, HiFi, and a PlayStation 4, even the enjoyment of a rainy day is taken care of. For those who seek to combine work and pleasure, we have a designated workspace with PC screen, docking station and high-speed WiFi connection.

For families with young children, we provide a cot, high-chair, car seat, and booster seat, pram, as well as safety gates for our stairs.

Why don’t you come to our website www.hebhideaways.com to explore further and see if ‘Mo Eilean’ is available to be your home away from home for your visit to the Outer Hebrides. We are looking forward to welcoming you. Ceud mìle fàilte!
