Gearrannan is on the Atlantic coast of west Lewis. There are 9 restored traditional blackhouse cottages. These houses were lived in until as recently as 1974.
For good atmospheric light visit the village in winter, a good position to take pictures is from the small embankment on the north side of the village.
Photographers Tip
It is also worth taking a short walk up the marked path that leads over the hills towards Dalmore for some stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
