Set in the beautiful Uig hills, Reothart nan Ealain is based out of the Old School in Lochcroistean. We are a Gaelic visual arts hub – a space for people to come to events, participate in courses or simply pop in for a chat to see some Gaelic visual art in our studio shop. A warm welcome awaits all visitors!
Our courses explore ‘place-based’ ways of making, offering participants views into our rich Gaelic culture and its connection to the landscape. Our programme of events ranges from evening ceilidhs to celebrate special times in the Gaelic calendar, as well as single day workshops, to week-long residential courses. We have wonderful tutors who are all practicing artists and tradition bearers and our courses cover a range of subjects from sculpture, photography, printmaking, to drawing and painting. On any of our courses you will spend some time outside, and some time indoors – we are passionate about our local history, material culture and all the contemporary Gaelic arts and hope that if you come on a course with us, you will leaving feeling nourished, having had a fun creative adventure and knowing a bit more about Gaelic ‘ways of seeing and being’!
Our studio shop is set up as a gallery with Gaelic visual arts at its heart. Visitors will find paintings, prints, drawings, stone carvings, cast sculptures and photography alongside a bespoke range of Reothart nan Ealain art making materials and creative goodies and gifts for sale.
Some events are free.
Courses range from £90 for a single day workshop to four-day courses £410, (materials are always included).
