In winter this can be a wild stretch of water having both ends of the sound open to the Atlantic Ocean. In summer Basking Sharks are often seen passing through the Sound.

Photographers Tip

A bright day in winter provides superb light for a shot from the highest part of the main road, across the sound towards Taransay.
