About

Metagama and Iolaire Lodges provide a quiet, comfortable retreat to return to after a day exploring the many beaches of Lewis and Harris and enjoying the wildlife, history and culture of the Hebrides. The open-plan living space in both our lodges is flooded with light from the patio doors and cathedral ceilings, creating an inviting and relaxing space. Both lodges benefited from new kitchens and decking in 2022. Each property has two king-size bedrooms and a mezzanine loft space above the living area which makes an ideal quiet reading area or a play area for children.

Iolaire Lodge has the added option of a hot tub, making it particularly suitable for romantic breaks and honeymoon couples.

The living areas and bedrooms come complete with a range of Harris Tweed soft furnishings and Arran Aromatics toiletries are supplied as standard. Linen and towels are provided as well as internet access. Finally, there is a new outside decked area at both lodges with table and chairs to enjoy alfresco wining and dining.

One well-behaved dog allowed.

Our lodges are just five minutes’ drive from the ferry and a 15-minute walk to Stornoway town centre, where you can find a range of shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and takeaway options.

Among the nearest must-see visitor attractions are the recently renovated Lews Castle, the most iconic building in the Western Isles, and the Museum Nan Eilean, which is set in the castle grounds. Here you can learn about the history of the Outer Hebrides, shaped by a unique combination of land, sea and people. Further afield, don’t forget to visit the Callanish Standing Stones, where you can walk among the megaliths at one of Scotland’s most magnificent and best-preserved Neolithic monuments.
