Travelling around the Outer Hebrides can be done by driving, public transport and cycling.
The chain of islands span just over 150 miles, and include 12 inhabited islands, stretching from Vatersay in the south to Lewis in the north.
Each island is connected by causeway, bridge, road or ferry making the journey through the islands a truly unique experience. The causeways are not tidal, so are always open - although they occasionally close if there is a bad storm.
