Taigh Marsaili looks onto the world-famous beach from the gentle foothills of Ben Luskentyre. It is warm, comfy and welcoming.
The cottage sits in a tidy garden behind a hand-built dry-stone wall and windswept hedge. With stunning views over the famous sands and out to the horizon, access to the beach is a couple of minutes’ walk away, across the singletrack road and down a short grassy path.
The driveway has space for two cars. You’ll also find a shed for storing bigger items, bikes, or hanging up wet jackets. Open the door to the cottage and you’ll find a bright utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink.
Walk through to the large, bright, open-plan dining kitchen, with beach-inspired pale, calm colours and solid oak worktops. It is the perfect space for long breakfasts, memorable evening meals or just gazing at the tide as it fills and empties the bay. The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, two fridges, a dishwasher, a microwave, a Nespresso machine, a TV with broadband and Freeview - and our old family kitchen table.
Along the corridor, there are two lovely comfy bedrooms, one twin and one super-king size. Each is complete with hotel luxury-grade mattresses and plenty of storage. The sea can be seen from both rooms - great for waking up to!
Bathtime is pure indulgence. Soak away aches in the freestanding bath or bring your muscles back to life with a rainforest shower in the sleek shower room. Each of these rooms has a sink, a heated towel rail, and a loo.
Finally, the cosy lounge is simply stunning: windows look southwards across the bay, past Toe Head to the horizon. It’s the perfect place to watch the constantly changing light and plan your next adventure. When the weather isn’t quite so great (or you’ve adventured enough) it’s a peaceful sanctuary in which to relax, curl up with a book from the bookshelf, watch the large smart TV (with Broadband and Freeview), or dip into the basket of games.
At the front of the house there’s a delightful, sheltered garden, ideal for sunbathing or a quick sundowner while supper is cooking. The back garden, with clothesline, is a great spot to dry those wet cossies.
Access to the famous beach is two minutes’ walk away, across the single-track road and down a short grassy path. Whether you are planning a bit of wild swimming (you can walk from the house to the water in your wetsuit) taking photographs, painting, watching the wildlife who call it home (if you’re lucky you might see sea otters playing in the waves) or just taking a stroll and soaking up the scenery, it’s a truly remarkable place.
We hope you have a wonderful stay.
