About
Tigh na Boireach provides a perfect base for island exploration. There are numerous outdoor activities to enjoy nearby. There are many walks that are suitable for all abilities and ages offering a great way to engage with the unique landscape. The coastline boasts some of the most stunning beaches around and the clear blue sea is a haven for wildlife. Corncrakes are frequently heard (and occasionally seen!) in the fields surrounding the cottage and eagles regularly fly over to feed on the nearby machair behind Clachan Sands beach.
The cottage is maintained to a high standard, with careful consideration given to sustainability. We have 4kW of solar panels in our field with battery storage making the cottage almost self sufficient for electricity in the summer. We also have a 6kW EV charger which guests are welcome to use (at an extra cost for electricity used).
Internally the cottage has a bedroom with a 4 poster bed, bathroom with high pressure shower, living room with a fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher) leather sofa and chair, TV with DVD, Bluetooth speaker, Wifi and a washing machine in the small shed behind the cottage. It is heated with modern electric panel heaters.
The cottage is ideally situated just a few miles from the main ferry terminal at Lochmaddy and the northern ferry at Berneray, making it easy to have a day trip to explore the neighbouring islands of Harris and Lewis. There are numerous stunning beaches within a few minutes drive and Clachan Sands within easy walking distance.
An ideal retreat for couples or for a memorable honeymoon.
