About

Built in the 1800s as the local school, the house has been restored to provide spacious & comfortable accommodation. There are two large double-height living spaces: a kitchen-dining room with seating for 10, wood burning stove, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves & fully fitted kitchen (induction hob & two ovens); a bright living room with triple aspect windows, wood burner, comfortable seating on 3 large sofas, television, desk & piano. There is a utility/laundry room with its own outside access.

The cottage part of the property (formerly the schoolteacher’s lodgings) houses all the bedrooms & bathrooms. Cosy and more traditional in style, it has whitewashed wooden floors & sleeping accommodation for 8 people across 4 bedrooms. Three doubles (one with ensuite bathroom, one with ensuite shower room) plus an additional bedroom with two single beds (and an ensuite shower room). There is a family bathroom with freestanding tub, plus a guest cloakroom. (An additional 2 beds can be set up if required).

The schoolhouse sits in its own grounds, which are surrounded by an old stone-wall. There is outdoor seating in the garden plus a bbq.

This part of Uist has wonderful sandy coastlines & is perfect for amazing wide-sky sunsets.
