Outer Hebrides Tourism is one of numerous DMOs and tourism organisations, representing over 2,500 tourism interests across the west coast of Scotland, that collaborated in West Coast Waters project as part of Scotland's Year of Coasts & Waters in 2021. It is supported by VisitScotland and Calmac.
West Coast Waters was created to encourage people to celebrate the stunning west coast of Scotland, by getting in the water, on the water or being near the water, recognising the diverse landscapes and wealth of activities the west coast offers.
As well as a social media campaign, West Coast Waters featured a heritage project "The Coast That Changed the World" which emphasises the long maritime heritage of the West Coast of Scotland.
