A rewarding and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Executive Board of Outer Hebrides Tourism (OHT), who are the official voice of tourism businesses across the Outer Hebrides. We are an ambitious, forward thinking, and collaborative Destination Management Organisation (DMO) composed of a Delivery Team and an Executive Board. We are a membership led organisation and around half of the industry, here on the islands, are members.
Our aims are ambitious, and our Outlook 2030 strategy plans are in place to positively enhance the benefits of tourism across the Outer Hebrides by delivering an outstanding experience for our visitors, and the very best for our businesses, our people, our communities, and our environment. We aspire to a sustainable visitor economy that supports, not damages, these shared values.
As part of our succession plan the Executive Board is looking to appoint a new Treasurer / Director to provide strategic direction, support financial planning, the execution of our Outlook 2030 strategy, and to guide the Delivery Team in the running of the DMO.
We would particularly be looking to seek representation from people with a financial or accountancy background and perhaps you may have served as a treasurer for other organisations. We use Xero as our accountancy software, so experience with this, would be useful.
Key Responsibilities
Whether you are an experienced director / treasurer or are looking to make the first step into this arena; if you feel you have some, all, or just a few of the experience, skills, and attributes above, we would love to have a conversation with you.
Details
The role is voluntary and is not remunerated but will give the successful applicant the opportunity to shape, influence and deliver the DMO’s ambitious plans and strategy and most importantly support our island-based businesses/members. Time commitment varies, but on average a minimum of 8-10 hours per month.
To apply, please send your details and a covering email or for a further discussion, call or e-mail Sue Reid, Chair – 07792 191807 or sue@outerhebridestourism.org
