Barra airport is located at Eoligarry, in the North part of the island and Traigh Mhor is the beach where the plane lands - the only scheduled plane landing that lands on a beach! It is well worth visiting the airport to watch the flights land on the beach and there is a cafe to have a cuppa while you wait.
There are special safety precautions which visitors are asked to observe. There is no public access allowed on the beach when the airport wind sock is flying or when the strobe light on the air traffic control tower is on. When the light is on, it warns of imminent aircraft arrival.
You can get a flight from Glasgow and you can book via Loganair.
Car parking is free of charge and includes disabled bays, a pick up/drop area and is situated adjacent to the airport terminal building.
