Adventure and Relaxation in the Outer Hebrides
For the adventurous there are boat trips available to islands such as St Kilda, The Flannans, The Shiants, The Monachs, and Mingulay. Here you will have the opportunity to observe spectacular birdlife and marine life.
If you are looking for some high octane adventures around the coast there are there are watersports, such as kayaking, coasteering, surfing, sup, snorkelling and wild swiming or if you want to do some climbing, there are lots of opportunities to view the islands from a height.
Our beautiful, but quiet beaches are ideal for a romantic stroll or for the more energetic kite flying or horseriding and in Barra you can even land on the beach in a plane!
You will really be spoiled for choice when it comes to hiking trails in the Western Isles. There are many of varying degrees of difficulty and there is also the long distance Hebridean Way which spans 10 islands and 156 miles - you dont have to do it all!
Cycling in the Outer Hebrides is a great way to discover our islands and there are a number of cycling route and mountain bike trails. The long distance Hebridean Way cycling route weaves through 10 islands from Vatersay to the Butt of Lewis and spans 185 miles.
For ultimate relaxing experience, there are a number of Golf courses, in spectacular locations and if fishing is your thing, there are a huge number of well stocked lochs where you can fish. Or if spa's are more your thing, relax at the Hebridean Spa.
