About
The main acess to the bay is through the village of Ardroil on the south side of the bay. A short track leads down to a small car park and toilets. It was near here that the famous Lewis Chessmen were found in 1831.
Early morning or evening light is best for photographs of the bay from either the south or north sides. The Uig hills to the south form a nice backdrop to photographs taken for the north. The road end at Crowlista provides a good vantage point for panoramic shots.
Photographers Tip
Photographs in winter work really well here due to the low angle of the light
