SAILING TRADITION AT LEVERBURGH
The site, originally home to the fishing village of An t-Ob, was purchased by English businessman William Lever in 1919 as part of the South Harris Estate. Lever planned to turn the village into a major fishing centre with infrastructure for 50 trawlers, but died of pneumonia before the dream was realized. Several fishing boats still sail from the harbor here.
