About

Located in a peaceful, picturesque corner of Ness in the North of Lewis, we offer three motorhome/ campervan pitches in a traditional island village setting.  The perfect place to switch off from the demands of life, our simple set-up is on a hill-top on the corner of our family croft with beautiful 360 degree views across the district, moor and out to the stunning Atlantic Ocean.

The site is easily accessed from the main road and all pitches are gravel hardstanding with electric hook-ups.  There is also a water stand-pipe and recycling/ general waste bins available.  There are no wc, shower or chemical waste disposal facilities on site, however these can be found at the local sports centre, only a 5 minute drive up the road.

A short walk towards the coast will reveal secluded beaches and coastal walks to enjoy.

‘Mardanan’ was the name our grandfather’s grandmother was known by and came about because her real name Mairead (Gaelic for Margaret) was difficult to pronounce!  Our grandfather, Alasdair ‘Mardanan’, spent hours on his beloved croft here, tending sheep and growing crops.

There are working crofts around the site so if you bring your dog please keep him/ her on a lead.  A variety of birdlife can be seen from the site.  You may even spot a majestic golden or white-tailed eagle.

Ness is a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors with many beaches, rugged clifftops and wild moorlands to explore.  Why not extend your stay, get to know the locals and maximise on their inside knowledge and find some hidden gems for yourself?

Local amenities include grocery shops, laundrette, charity shop, post offices, cafes, restaurants, pubs, sports centre and a museum with gift shop.

Please note the site is not manned but we are just a phone call away.
