About

Combining the traditional charms of foot thick walls and cosy rooms with a stylish renovation and modern comforts, Seallah na Mara provides everything you need for a relaxing stay. One of only two traditional fisherman’s cottages left on the Newton waterfront in Stornoway, it has stood here for over 150 years. Designed for two people – not just couples – it has two bedrooms, a combined living/dining room with a wood-burning stove, a smart television with Netflix and BBC iPlayer. The separate kitchen comes with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine. To make the cottage even cosier, there is gas central heating, continuous hot water and double glazing. There is a double bedroom downstairs and the upstairs bedroom can be set up to suit you with either twin beds or a king-size double. The bathroom has a combined bath and shower.

The cottage is located one minute by car from the ferry terminal and main supermarket, and a few minutes from the main facilities of the town. One of the town’s best cafés – Beckett & Sons – is also a few minutes’ drive (or six minute walk) away. There is plenty offstreet parking. When the weather is stormy, you can hunker down with a wide selection of books and magazines. Sealladh na Mara Cottage is conveniently situated to enjoy everything that Stornoway has to offer and is an ideal base for exploring the islands of Lewis and Harris.
