About

Family History - The Hebrides People ‘Cò Leis Thu?’ genealogy service can help you trace your Western Isles ancestors. We specialise in producing family trees that show people’s ancestry up to seven generations, along with notes which can reveal the oral tradition that was recorded about certain families. You can come to talk about your family history in person by appointment by phoning or emailing in advance, email an enquiry, or explore our online database yourself.

Exhibitions - 3 exhibitions which tell the story of the people and landscapes of Harris and the Western Isles, including geology, and the first people; the people of St Kilda; and Emigration from the islands.

Shop - A wide range of books, including croft histories, fiction, local history, and Highlands and Islands history, as well as Harris Tweed gifts, Hebridean soaps, greetings cards by local artists, a selection of Hebriteas from Tiree Tea, Gneiss Things stone jewellery, and more.

Refreshments - Range of teas, coffees, and biscuits
