About

One or two pairs nest in the reed bed on the southern side of the loch. To find them at Loch Stilligarry take the turning at Stilligarry and drive onto the machair. Where the track meets another heading north - south park and walk south to the loch. From here listen and search the reed bed along the southern side. Early morning and evening tend to be best. In the winter check cattle feeding areas.

Visual Description
Generally a 'little brown job' type of bird, but males are distinctive with jet back head and white drooping moustache and collar.
