About

Croft house in popular Northton in Harris: walk to four beaches & Ceapabhal hill, Scarista beach is five minutes drive, twenty minutes to Luskentyre. Recently refurbished, the house sleeps five in two doubles and a single bedroom with a bathroom and shower room. Warm and cozy, new wood floors downstairs with underfloor heating, carpets and radiators upstairs. Colourful Harris tweed curtains throughout, and plenty of woolly rugs, cushions and blankets. It’s a peaceful haven to retreat to when the weather gets dramatic.

Relax after an adventurous day by the woodstove in the sitting room, and eat together in a well-equipped kitchen-dining room. If you like music, there’s a large JBL PartyBox speaker with Wi-fi, and TV. And if you’re into family games, we’ve provided all we know from a Lewis chessmen set to the Viking game of Hnefatafl. Clean, clear spaces, it’s a children-friendly house.

Outside, in an enclosed grassy garden, take in the views of Northton sands, and the surrounding hills. Sit watching the sea eagles, and catch a glimpse of the corncrakes from May to July. At night, gaze at the stars, or in the winter, you might see the Northern Lights. Shed for additional storage and extra freezer/fridge.

Well-behaved pets welcome, but please keep downstairs.

Nearby – Temple café and Croft 36 in the village, a small supermarket in Leverburgh, the Tarbert distillery, the countless sandy beaches of west-coast Harris, the Golden Road on the east, and the historical sites of Callanish, Carloway etc in Lewis. Play golf at Scarista on the world’s most scenic course (it’s true!), go hiking, swimming, and build sand-castles, climb the hills, go bicycling, and there’s great surfing in Lewis. Bring your paintbox or camera and capture the colours.

Or just sit, and watch the natural world go by.
