About

Spacious but cosy!

The Old Croft House can be found on the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland. It is a high quality holiday home that can sleep up to 8 people, set on a working croft in the village of Back. We offer guests comfortable, family friendly accommodation that is ideal for those who want to explore Lewis and Harris. We are particularly popular with families with young children.

About Old Croft House

To ensure that it feels like a home from home, inside you will find, on ground floor:

      * Double bedroom with king size bed
      * Bedroom with two single beds
      * Family bathroom with over the bath shower, toilet and wash hand basin
      * Fully equiped kitchen with snug lounge area
      * Separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer (for the rainy days!), ironing board and iron. Wet boots and jackets can be hung in here.

      * Bedroom with single bed and slightly smaller single guest bed for child or small adult and wash hand basin
      * Shower room with toilet and wash hand basin
      * Separate sitting room with coal fire

Local area

The Old Croft House is situated on a working croft in the centre of Back village, a fertile crofting township in the North East of the Isle of Lewis and Harris, the largest of the Outer Hebridean islands, just 7 miles North of the main town of Stornoway. Back is an ideal location for a visit to the Hebrides. The long white sands of Back and Gress beaches are a few minutes walk from the house in one direction. Walk the other way and you're soon striding across miles of heathery moor, dotted with trout-filled lochs and, through which the Gress river runs (noted for its salmon and sea trout). There are plenty of quiet single track croft roads leading into the moorland, ideal if you feel like doing some cycling.

Back is well supplied with amenities too. You will be guaranteed a warm welcome in the local shop and Post Office (1/2 mile away), which boasts the cheapest fuel on the island. The village also has a hairdresser, a pharmacy and a gift shop. If you feel like eating out there are a variety of restaurants in Stornoway, or various take-away outlets, a 15 minute drive from the house.

For more information please visit our website.
