We have worked in partnership on a number of projects in the past which have strengthened the Outer Hebrides as a destination.
Building skills among our members
Our projects include those that make our member businesses stronger, such as acting as the local delivery partner for Digital Tourism Scotland, to help island businesses improve their online presence. We have also led work on the Energy Isles project n partnership with Tighean Innse Gall to reduce our carbon footprint, and the Our Hebridean Welcome to encourage high levels of customer service.
Strengthening and diversifying what we can offer visitors
Our other projects help make the destination a more attractive and interesting destination for visitors. We have developed a number of trails throughout the islands to encourage longer stays and ensure all communities share the benefit of tourism. These include Eat Drink Hebrides, the Bird of Prey Trail and the Peter May Trail. Perhaps our biggest project has been the promotrion of the Hebridean Way, a long-distance cycle-way and footpath from Vatersay to Lewis, which now attracts over 10,000 visitors per year, creating demand for overnight accommodation in rural communities.
